The eSignal Market Leaders Window

The Market Leaders window displays the Top 10 Gainers, Losers and Most Active companies from the NYSE, AMEX, NASD, as well as Options Price Reporting Authority (OPRA)(You must subscribe to each exchange.)

The Leaders window starts updating as soon as the market opens at 9:30 a.m. ET. Pre- and post-market activity is not included. 



To access the Leaders window, you can select the Leaders Icon on the toolbar , go to File > New > Leaders from the main menu or use the shortcut, Ctrl-L.

The Market Leaders window gives users the ability to choose different categories. Twelve groups of top 10 leaders can be viewed in their entirety or in separate groups. For example, if you want to see only the top gainers of the NASDAQ, simply choose the option in the category menu.

Dynamic Mode (Real-Time)

To get real-time updates in the Market Leaders window, make sure the Dynamic box is checked. While in Dynamic mode (real-time), the symbols count toward the user's symbol count. The list of symbols updates every 5 minutes, but the prices for the resulting list update in real time. Please note that, if the Dynamic box remains unchecked, the “Time” and “TmUp” (Time of update) fields will both be in sync, refreshing every 5 minutes. 

Snapshot Mode (Non-Real-Time)

If you do not want to follow the leaders in real time, locate the dynamic function at the top of the Leaders window and take the check mark out of the box. This will set the Leaders window to snapshot mode. In snapshot mode, when the Leaders window is opened, it gives you a snapshot of the current leaders but will not update in real time.

Market Leaders Window Criteria

NYSE issues: Previous Price of at least $2.00 and today's volume of at least 250K.
NASDAQ and AMEX issues: Previous Price of at least $4.00 and today's volume of at least 250K.
Also, we don't include small caps for NASDAQ in the Leaders window.

For Options, Last Price and Previous Close Price must be at least $0.10 and today's volume of at least 10 contracts.

Right Click Features

When you right click in a Quote window data row, you see some or all of the commands shown in the following screen shot, depending on the type of issue displayed in the row. This allows you to view any of the following windows for that listed issue. Advanced Chart, Standard Chart, Time and Sales, Time and Quotes, News, Market Depth, Autolist, Detail Window, Island Book, Research, Set Alert or Edit.

Grid Lines

Choose Properties from the Leader Options menu. In the Options dialog box, click the Grid box to remove or add the grid lines, then click OK.

Change Colors and Fonts

Click on the Leaders window to make it the active window. Go up to Leaders Options on the menu bar, and then click Colors. Highlight the field that you wish to change, and then click the Choose Color button. From the Leaders Options menu, select Fonts to change the Font, Style and Size.

Save as Default

Go up to Leaders Options on the menu bar, then Style Templates, and then SAVE AS DEFAULT to save any changes made to the Leaders window. All new Leaders windows will have these preferences added.

Troubleshooting Tip

If the Leaders Window is blank when you open it, shut down eSignal by clicking File, and then select Exit All and Save. Reopen eSignal after a few seconds. This will give you a new connection to the server.
