My Favorite Trading Computer

By Larry Jacobs, Editor of Traders World magazine

Of all the trading computers I have ever seen over the years, I think one of the best is here now…the Sonata PRO.

I like it because it is quiet, quiet, quiet and powerful. It is very important that your computer remain silent. Without that, you lose concentration and you will probably get headaches from the noise.

What’s in It?

First, it has the Antec P180 quiet case. The sides of the case are actually made of an aluminum, triple-layer construction material to improve quietness. The case has two internal chambers for heat control and three adjustable quiet fans. The internal airflow is the best I have ever seen. In my opinion, this is the only computer case to have. Anything else won’t compare.

The Sonata Pro has a 500-watt power supply. It is called the Antec Phantom. It has virtually no noise!

The motherboard is Intel’s best, and highest rated, that supports three PCIE video cards, capable of supporting up to 10 DVI monitors. It has high-definition audio and a gigabit high-speed Internet LAN.

It uses a twin WAN router that gives this computer the speed of a T1 line while still using a cable and a DSL line. It also provides automatic load balancing and failover protection.

It sports Nvidia graphics with the sharpest DVI video you have ever seen. It is extremely important that you only use DVI video graphic cards and screens. You can watch your screens for hours without eye strain or headaches using DVI.

I have four 20-inch monitors in a quad-desk stand as you can see in the illustration.

The CPU cooler is all copper with heat pipes for effectiveness.

Finally, this thing is so powerful. It is 40 percent faster and more than 40 percent more energy-efficient than any other computer I have tried. It has the new Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, which received rave reviews for multi-tasking, a characteristic of trading.

It has a continuous auto-defragmenter system that keeps the computer continually running at top speed. It also uses a virus protection system rated the best in the world.

For reliability, it has a redundant RAID 1 system of hard disk drives. So, if one drive fails while you are day trading, the other one takes over. It uses the new Seagate perpendicular drives, which are more reliable than previous ones, with automatic drive calibrating.

It even has a built-in TV feature, so you can watch CNBC or Bloomberg while you are trading.

As for support, this computer comes with 24 / 7 hardware and software support, via desktop chat, email or toll-free phone, and onsite service as well.
